AgStar's Fund for Rural America Announces 2011 Grant Recipients

MANKATO, Minn. (March 21, 2011) - The AgStar Fund for Rural America, a corporate giving program of AgStar Financial Services, is proud to announce its 2011 grant recipients. This year, AgStar received a record number of grants. Overall, AgStar awarded $91,000 to a total of 22 organizations.

Each year, from October through the end of November, the AgStar Fund for Rural America accepts grant applications for up to $10,000. The grant funding is to be used for specific causes in one of four focus areas for the Fund including: Education, Environment, Technology or Quality of Life. Grant money is used for project or program support, technical assistance, general operating support or equipment.

"The performance and vision of these recipients is impressive. There are so many innovative and creative programs deserving of support. We are honored to award these grants supporting their work as they continue to make a positive impact in our rural communities."

The Fund was created to extend AgStar's commitment to the communities in which the company works and lives. Since its inception, more than $3 million has been donated by the AgStar Fund.

AgStar will be accepting grant applications for 2012 in October with a deadline of November 30. Applications for the grants are available online at
