RASA, Rushford Area Society for the Arts, will be producing "BYE BYE BIRDIE," under the direction of Judy Myers, this summer, July 13 through 17th, at the Rushford Peterson High School Theater. Many adults and teenagers are needed to fill the cast. If you are unfamiliar with the story line, you may find many references to it on line as it is one of the most captivating musical shows of our time. Many well-known songs came out of this show- "A Lot of Livin' to Do," "Put on a Happy Face" and "Kids" are just a few.

The story is one of a rock and roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army. The singer, Conrad Birdie, an Elvis Presley type, will bid a typical American teen-age girl goodbye with an all-American kiss. This is to be done on the "Ed Sullivan" Show. The town of Sweet Apple, Ohio's teenagers are all in a dither. Conrad's agent, Albert, is a mild-mannered young man who has been dating his girl, Rosie, for eight years. Marriage has eluded the couple, probably due a lot to his lead-footed, catastrophe-ridden mother. This is a show of satire that gives an insight into the everyday life that is very much part of us all. It is tops in imagination and frivolity and will be enjoyed by the cast as much as the audience.

Auditions will be held Friday evening, April 29th, at 7:00 pm; Saturday morning, April 30th at 11:00 am; and Wednesday evening, May 4th at 7:00 pm in the R-P band room. Persons interested in auditioning should be prepared to sing a song for the director, Judy Myers. If you, or someone you know, would like additional information on the show and its production, please contact Brenda at 507-864-7525 evenings and weekends.
