Marion Giordano, 90, a retired Wykoff restaurant operator and homemaker, died November 25, 2003 at Spring Valley Care Center.

Marion Smaby was born July 29, 1913, the daughter of Martin and Alice (Halverson) Smaby. She grew up in the Peterson area and graduated from Peterson High School in 1931. On March 23, 1939, she married Jerry Giordano in Decorah, Iowa. They owned and operated a tavern and restaurant in Wykoff until their retirement in 1972. Her husband died June 2, 1987. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley and had been an active member of St. Kilian Catholic Church in Wykoff.

Survivors include two sons, Jerome “Jerry” of Chanhassen, Minn., and Thomas “Tom” (Shelva) of Stewartville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maxine Rappe of Stewartville. She was preceded in death by a grandson, two sisters and two brothers.

A funeral Mass for Marion Giordano was November 29, 2003 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Steven Peterson officiating. Burial was in St. Kilian Catholic Cemetery in Wykoff. Thauwald Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.pring Valley Care Center.
