Home, it's where the heart is, home sweet home. Dictionary.com defines home as a house, apartment, or other shelter that is the usual residence of a person, family, or household. To me, home is what has made me who I am today. I believe that everyone has their own definition of what "home" is to them. It's hard to believe that in less than a month I will have graduated from high school. This fall I will be attending college at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, making it my new home.

A few of my fondest memories are my kindergarten graduation, the activities we did during team time, and playing Mr. Feine's silent ball. Also, I remember dreading the first day of my freshman year of high school because I was going to be called a "fish." I know one thing for sure, I would not be the person I am today if it wasn't for the people in my life. My community, school, church, friends, and family have made me into the person I am today, and I want thank them. They are all part of the definition of my "home."

Thinking back on my childhood there isn't a whole lot I would want to change, and I wouldn't give up the memories I have created for anything! I love the small community where you know everyone and everyone knows you, and being a member of my country church where I am a Sunday School teacher. I couldn't imagine growing up in a large school, not knowing my classmates' first and last names. Not having my friends that I have gone through so much with, and gotten close with for the past 18 years. The people that have "affected" my life the greatest would be my family. They have all contributed to making my "home."

Due to the fact that I grew up on a rural farm gave me the chance to see a familiar faces whenever I went into town, and very soon the opportunity to serve on my town's volunteer ambulance service. I'm very anxious to start college and have a new "home" for the next six years, but I will always remember where I built my foundation.
