Each year since 1995, the Minnesota Department of Health has issued an annual water quality report with a summary of results from monitoring done the previous year as well as information on timely issues related to drinking water in the state. Gov. Mark Dayton has proclaimed May 1-7, 2011 as Safe Drinking Water Week in Minnesota. The press conference to announce the annual report is being held in conjunction with Safe Drinking Water Week. The new St. Peter water treatment plant, which includes a reverse osmosis system, was built to meet the growing residential and commercial needs of the city. It was completed in March 2011.
