How many of us have set goals before and not really worked towards them? I know I have. Before my senior year I had a tendency to do this. I have realized if you set goals and achieve them you are more motivated to do things and accomplish them.
The reason I started setting goals for myself is because last year during golf I was out with tendonitis. Coming back into a sport you love and not being as good as you were can be hard on a person. I knew it would take time, but I became impatient and decided I had to set some goals for myself or I wouldn't be able to accomplish this.
My objective was to be back golfing on the Varsity golf team, while shooting in the 40's like I was when I incurred my injury. I had to have a plan, or goals, on how I was going to get back to my pre-injury golf scores. One way was by taking it one step at a time. I would set goals each meet, which involved everything from the score I planned to shoot on each hole, to my final overall score each meet.
I finally reached my objective this past week at Chatfield. By setting these goals and having a plan to reach them, I wasn't so stressed out. The significance of setting goals is to give you something to look forward too. Once you reach your one set of goals you will feel good about yourself and it keeps you motivated for other events in your life. Know what your objective is and set your goals. I promise, you will see a positive change in your life. What are your goals and how are you going about reaching them?
