FSA Reminder:

June 1 Deadline for 2011

DCP/ACRE Sign Up

SAINT PAUL, MINN., May 17, 2011 - USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Minnesota Executive Director Linda Hennen reminds producers that June 1, 2011, is the enrollment deadline for the 2011 Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) Program or the traditional Direct and Counter-cyclical Program (DCP).

"Farmers in Minnesota who are interested in enrolling in these programs need to add this important deadline to their list of 'must do' jobs," Hennen said. "Producers should contact their local county office right now to set up appointments before the June 1 deadline."

Annual contracts are required to be signed to receive program benefits. All signatures of producers receiving a share in DCP and ACRE payments are required by the June 1, 2011 deadline.

For the farm and ranch calendar, here's a schedule of FSA program deadlines coming up in the next several months:

May 31, 2011 - 2010 Crop Year Final Loan Availability Date for Corn, Soybeans, Grain Sorghum, Sunflowers, and Pulse Crops

June 1, 2011 - Deadline for 2011 Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program (DCP) Enrollment and for 2011 Average Crop Revenue Election (ACRE) Program Election

July 15, 2011 - 2011 Crop Year Acreage Reporting Deadline for most crops and deadline to file 2010 Production Reports for most Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) crops

July 29, 2011 - 2009 Supplemental Revenue Assistance (SURE) Program Signup Deadline

August 1, 2011 - Deadline to Request a 2011 Farm Reconstitution

September 1, 2011 - Deadline to file 2010 Production Reports for ACRE. This deadline was extended from July 15, 2011 for 2010 production only.

Nominations Open June 15

SAINT PAUL, MINN., May 18, 2011 - Farmers, ranchers and other agricultural producers have until Aug. 1, to nominate eligible candidates to serve on local Farm Service Agency county committees, announced Linda Hennen State Executive Director of the USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA).

"County committees play a vital role in the administration of federal farm programs and the positive effect they have on rural communities," said Hennen.

FSA county committees make decisions on commodity price support loans, conservation programs, disaster programs, employing county executive directors and other significant agricultural issues.

To hold office as a county committee member, a person must participate or cooperate in a program administered by FSA, be eligible to vote in a county committee election and reside in the local administrative area (LAA) in which the person is a candidate. Individuals may nominate themselves or others as candidates. Additionally, organizations representing minorities and women may nominate candidates. All nominees must sign nomination form FSA-669A, which includes a statement that the nominee agrees to serve if elected. Form FSA-669A is available at USDA Service Centers and online at: http://forms.sc.egov.usda.gov/efcommon/eFileServices/eFormsAdmin/FSA0669A_110331V01.pdf.

All nomination forms for the 2011 election must be postmarked or received in the local USDA Service Center by close of business on Aug 1, 2011.

The county committee nomination period begins June 15. Voting takes place in the fall. Ballots will be mailed to eligible voters by Nov. 4. The final day to return voted ballots to the local USDA Service Center is Dec 5. Newly elected county committee members take office Jan 2, 2012.
