New Tower Construction
NOTIFICATION TO INFORM CITIZENS IN AND AROUND FILLMORE, SPRING VALLEY TOWNSHIPS IN FILLMORE COUNTY, MINNESOTA that the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) is searching for land to construct a 330-foot radio communications tower located somewhere within one of the above noted townships. The construction of this tower is necessary to provide two-way radio coverage and microwave radio connectivity for the Allied Radio Matrix Emergency Response (ARMER) radio system. The ARMER system is being implemented as directed in the Minnesota Homeland Security legislation that was adopted by the state legislature in 2004. By Federal Aviation Administration rules, the tower will require an aircraft warning light system be installed at the top of the tower. The system will consist of a medium intensity white strobe light for daytime illumination, and a red beacon light at the top for nighttime illumination. The tower will be a 3-legged, self-supporting tower (no wires), and will be a galvanized gray color. Mn/DOT is in the process of assessing the possible effects of the tower to historic, archaeological and natural resources in the area, as required by the Federal Communications Commission. Citizens having questions or concerns regarding the construction of the proposed tower should contact Troy Schmidt or Mike Hogan at the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Mr. Schmidt can be reached at (507) 280-5022. Mr. Hogan can be reach at (651) 296-7421. Written comments can be mailed to Mn/DOT, 395 John Ireland Blvd., MS730, St. Paul, MN 55155. All comments must be received within thirty days of the publication date preceding this notice. Publish 17
