Before heading to Rhino's Pizza and Sub Shoppe in Lanesboro last Friday night for supper, someone was telling me about a special kind of Spring Grove pop available now to go along with the Rhubarb festivities going on in Lanesboro for the weekend. A limited edition of Spring Grove Rhu-berry pop was specially made for Rhubarb Fest last year and available only in Lanesboro. It went over so well, that it was brought back this year and made available elsewhere, also. I was intrigued by this rhubarb pop and made it my goal to try some while dining in the rhubarb capital of Minnesota.
As we walked into Rhino's debating on trying some pizza or a sub, I immediately noticed the Spring Grove pop in the cooler and my hopes were high of finding this interesting rhubarb delight. And I was in luck! The waitress said they had just gotten some in that day!
We decided on trying the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza and a couple Rhu-berry pops. It was hard not to drink all my pop before the food came! It was a perfectly crisp drink on a warm summer day.
You truly come to enjoy and realize summer is upon us as you sit looking out the window onto the quaint streets of Lanesboro. The unique bikes for rent across the street and the tourists alongside the locals taking a leisurely stroll make you appreciate the small town life we have in this area. Everyone is friendly and seems to know each other as different groups come in off the street to order some ice cream or a pizza to go.
The food was delicious, the pop was refreshing and the service friendly while dining at Rhino's. And if I had left room for dessert, I'm sure the ice cream would have been just as equally fantastic.
