International Exchange Students coming to Minnesota this Fall

A local Non Profit Exchange Program is inviting local Fillmore County families to host international exchange students for the 2010-2011 school year. The teenage students come from over 30 countries and attend local high schools. The students have their own spending money and insurance. Host families are responsible for meals, a place to sleep and a nurturing environment. STS Foundation has a local coordinator that will supervise the student and support the family throughout the school year. Here are a few of the incoming students that are requesting families:

Marianne is 16 and comes from Oslo in Norway. Her Dad is an engineer and her Mom is a secretary. She has an 18 year old brother named Magnus. Marianne enjoys singing, drawing, reading and being with her family. She considers herself to be a happy and positive person. Marianne is a straight A student and her teachers describe her as a hard worker. She will go to the USA for the full year and is very excited about meeting her new family wherever she gets placed. Marianne loves children and animals and hopes to live with a family that has some pets.

Sevil is 17 and comes from Solingen in Germany. Her Dad is a manager and her Mom is a pharmacist. Sevil has a three year old brother whom she loves very much. She loves languages and speaks English, German, Latin and Turkish. Her family is originally from Turkey. Sevil's hobbies and interests include playing volleyball, cooking, meeting friends, playing the violin, musicals and watching movies. She is part of the drama group at school and really enjoys acting and participating in musicals. Her parents say that she is a polite and responsible teenager who loves to cook and will be a real asset to her new host family

Stefano is 17 and comes from Belluno in Italy where he lives with his parents and siblings. His Dad is a doctor and his Mom is a teacher. Stefano has an 18 year old sister named Margaretha and a 19 year old brother named Francesco. His favorite hobbies are playing rugby, motocross, music and reading. He owns a cat named Baloo and a dog named Caterina. Stefano trains with his rugby team three times a week. He likes to go skiing in the winter time. He loves watching American Football and ice Hockey and hopes to go to a game with his host family in America. His teacher describes his as being a bright young man with a very pleasant personality.

Janna is 17 and comes from Finland. Her Dad works with Sports Facilities and her mom is a Service Assistant. Janna has three brothers aged 12, 7 and 5. She speaks English and Swedish. She loves cycling, skiing, running and going to the gym. She also loves singing. She owns a piano but still does not know how to play! She cycles a lot with her Dad and they have traveled to different countries just for this sport. Janna also has an interest in acting and hopes to join a theatre group if possible in the USA. She describes herself as being confident and funny.
