The University of Minnesota 2010 CROP MANAGEMENT TOUR will be held in Rochester on Thursday, July 8th. Registration is at 8:30 a.m. with the Tour/Program running from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The plot tour is located at the University of Minnesota Extension Research Site just east of the RCTC main campus, intersection of MN Hwy 14 and County Rd 22 (same as in the past). There is no charge to attend.

Your tour presenters and guides include: Fritz Breitenbach, UM SE IPM Specialist; Lisa Behnken, UM Extension Educator; Ryan Miller, UM Extension Educator; Dave Nicolai, UM Extension Educator; and Jeff Gunsolus, UM Extension Educator. Also assisting will be UM Ag Interns: Kyle Poss, Bo Beyer, Brent Breitenbach, Theresa Twohey, Jolene Kuisle, Kira Stearns, and Molly Kuisle.

The tour stops include Southern Minnesota Corn and Soybean Weed Management Trials - Jeff Gunsolus, Weed Scientist, University of Minnesota Dept of Agronomy & Plant Genetics; Risks of Early Planted Corn - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly (Planted weekly from April 9 - May 4, plus replant on May 19). Frost damage on May 9 and hail damage on May 25; Keeping Herbicides on Target - Spray Nozzle Demonstration, Tank Contamination, Risks of Spray Drift Demonstration - a little goes a long way - Dave Nicolai, University of Minnesota Extension Educator; How do Liberty Link Soybeans fit into Your Weed Management System - Herbicide programs with Ignite 280, comparison of Pre/Post and Post Only Systems; Crown Rust Control in Oats - Year Two; and a chance to view New Herbicides and Herbicide Programs in Corn and Soybeans including Integrity, Capreno, V-10233 (Fierce), OpTill, and more. Field Trials are signed and visitors are welcome to return and view trials during the summer months.
