On January 17, 2006, the Preble Township Board of Supervisors approved and adopted two ordinances - (i) Drive Access Ordinance and (ii) Rights-of-Way Management Ordinance. The following are approved summaries of these two ordinances:

1.Drive Access Ordinance provides the basis and standards for approving permits to residents and property owners to construct and maintain a suitable residential or field drive approach and access to township roads. No person may excavate, build, construct or develop any drive access or approach from private property onto a township road, without first obtaining an access permit from the Preble Township Board of Supervisors.

2.Rights-of-Way Management Ordinance gives Preble Township the authority to manage and regulate its public roads and rights-of-way. The ordinance prohibits any person or utility from (i) excavating within or obstructing a township right-of-way, or (ii) installing or leaving any facility, cabling or junk within a township right-of-way, without first obtaining a permit from the Preble Township Board of Supervisors. The ordinance defines the standards for any utility performing work within a township right-of-way.

The complete text of these two ordinances can be found on the Preble Township website at Additionally, copies of these two ordinances may be obtained from David Larson, township clerk, by calling 507-864-2690.
