Mat Battle of Acronyms, GMLOK Defeats FCLMC (38-32)
'It was a quick night: seven of fourteen matches were forfeits. For GMLOK, Blake Olson (103 pounds), Donyae Funches (125), and Wyatt Richardson (189) got pins. Seventh grader Parker Hale (119), in his first varsity match, and Lucas Roe (160), scored majority decisions. For FCLMC, Connor Hanson (112) and Logan Whitehill (171) scored majority decisions. In actual matches, GMLOK held a 5-2 advantageous, leaving Coach Bill Simpkins to say, "I don't think we have ever overcome giving up five forfeits and winning." Simpkins also commented, "In a score as close as this, it was key for us to not give up any pins." His words saluted 112-pound 8th grader Sam Rose and 171-pound Casey Struckman for fighting hard and not getting pinned.
