Thursday, April 14, 2011, marked the opening of the second season of the National Trout Learning Center (NTLC) in Preston, MN. Taking into account the advice of marketing professionals, the NTLC will become the National Trout Center, NTC. The shortened name will enhance the Center's marketing potential while encompassing our mission "to conserve our natural and cultural heritage of trout and their coldwater environments by engaging the public through education, practice and awareness." Please bear with us as we implement the name change in our signage and electronic addresses during the next few months.
The public is invited to stop by the NTC to meet the new program coordinator, Nick Brandvold, who will be joined by two interns in May. New programming will include group and individual instruction in the fishing arts such as fly casting, rod building, tying flies, knots and leaders, and educational stream ecology. There will be a six-week Get Outdoors (GO) program for youth this summer, as well as new exhibits featuring aquatic insect identification and trout ecology.
The NTC is open Thursdays through Sundays from 10AM to 4PM, at 120 St. Anthony Street South, just east of the courthouse square in downtown Preston, MN. For up-to-date program and scheduling information, please visit our website, http://www.nationaltroutlearningcenter.org, or, contact Nick Brandvold, by email, info@nationaltroutlearningcenter.org, or, telephone: (507) 765-4700.
