Wear the poppy proudly in honor of all the fallen veterans and support the living. Through late May, area Legion Auxiliaries will have poppies and donation cans displayed in local businesses, as in the past years. Your generous donations are appreciated. National Poppy Day is May 27.
The poppy became part of our Memorial Day after the death and destruction of World War I. As time moved on, the poppy became our way to memorialize the soldier who fought and died in the war and all who served and those serving now.
The distribution of poppies in exchange for donations supports the programs that the American Legion Auxiliary supports, to help veterans and their families with medical and financial needs. Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend and summer.
