MUNICIPAL BUILDING FOR SALE BY SEALED BID AUCTION

Municipal building located at 109 W Maple Street, Houston, Minnesota, will be sold on bids.   

The property is comprised of the following: 

Part of Lot 5, Block 21 of Mons Anderson’s Addition to Houston, according to the plat thereof on file and of record in the Office of the County Recorder, Houston County, Minnesota, described as follows: 

Commencing at the southwest corner of said Lot 5; thence North 89° 09’ 04” East along the south line of said Lot 5 a distance of 36.40 feet to the point of beginning; thence continuing North 89° 09’ 04” East along said south line 104.60 feet to the southeast corner of said Lot 5; thence North 00° 40’ 38” West 60.32 feet to the northeast corner of said Lot 5; thence South 89° 07’ 36” West along the north line of said Lot 5 a distance of 104.60 feet; thence South 00° 40’ 38” East 60.28 feet to the point of beginning. 

The property will be available for viewing Monday through Friday daily by appointment by contacting City Administrator, Michelle Quinn, at 507-896-4033 x 3. 

Sealed bids will be received at Murphy Law Office, 110 East Main, Caledonia, MN 55921 until Friday, June 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Bids shall be made in writing, enclosed in a sealed envelope and plainly marked “City of Houston Property Sale” on the exterior.  The bid shall contain the name, address, phone number, email address and bid amount.  Each original bid shall be accompanied by a cashier’s check payable to Murphy Law Office Trust Account for 5% of the bid as earnest money deposit.  SELLER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT ANY AND ALL BIDS AND TO NEGOTIATE WITH BIDDERS, AND FURTHER RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CONDUCT A BID-OFF BETWEEN THE TOP FOUR (4) BIDDERS.  If Sellers exercise their right to conduct a bid-off, the bid-off shall occur on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Murphy Law Office. Seller reserves the right to conduct the bid-off according to Seller’s discretion, including the right to conduct a confidential bid-off in person or by telephone.  The bid-off and sale process will be conducted pursuant to Minnesota Statutes pertaining to the sale of real estate by statutory cities.  

The successful bidders will be required to enter into a Standard Minnesota Purchase Agreement, with closing to occur no later than Friday, July 15, 2022, at 1:00 p.m.  Possession will be delivered immediately upon closing.  The premises are being sold “AS IS”.  If you should have any questions regarding the bid procedure, please contact Michael A.
