MINUTES REGULAR MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #239
The regular meeting of the Rushford-Peterson School District #239 was called to order by Chairperson Chris Grindland at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2023, in the Rushford-Peterson Schools Forum Room.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Members Present: Chris Grindland, Matt Helgemoe, Jeff Michel, Ken Sawle, Carl Schollmeier, Nancy Snyder and Amy Woxland
Members absent: none
Administration Present: Superintendent Ben Bernard and Angela Shepard
District Personnel: Laura Hahn
Motion by Michel, seconded by Snyder to adopt the agenda with the following additions: Consent agenda- Personnel: Hires: Chris Hanson, Long-term Sub for 3rd Grade (Jan 2-May 31), Meredith Johnson – Assistant Knowledge Bowl Coach and Christine Anderson – Prom Advisor. Motion carried unanimously.
There were no public comments.
Motion by Sawle, seconded by Michel to approve the following consent agenda items: August 28, 2023, Special Meeting Minutes, August 21, 2023, Regular Monthly Meeting Minutes; Donations in the amount of $9,500, August hand payables, wires & payroll liabilities in the amount of $321,724.98, August payroll in the amount of $264,530.91, September board bills in the amount of $205,016.16; PERSONNEL: Resignations: Rick Hanson – Custodian as of 9/15/23, Hires: Matt Geiwitz – Full-time Custodian, Chris Hanson, Long-term Sub for 3rd Grade (Jan 2-May 31), Meredith Johnson – Assistant Knowledge Bowl Coach and Christine Anderson – Prom Advisor. With a roll call vote of 7:0, motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Sawle, seconded by Woxland to approve the certification of the proposed levy for 2023 payable in 2024. Set the levy rate at the maximum. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by Woxland, seconded by Sawle to increase the teacher sub rate from $125 per day to $135 per day. Motion carried unanimously.
Superintendent Bernard presented the Superintendent’s report.
Angela Shepard presented the Elementary report.

Motion by Schollmeier, seconded by Woxland, to adjourn the regular meeting at 6:23 p.m. Motion carried unanimously.
