In April 2023, the Association of Community Publishers held their annual conference in Charlotte, North Carolina.
During the annual conference, ACP coordinated the annual “Best of the Best” contest for the publishing industry. There were more than 1,200 contest entries in over 100 categories.
The Fillmore County Journal team earned a total of eight awards in the following categories.
1. General Excellence – First Place
2. Best Use of Contests – First Place
3. Best Single Ad (Grocery/Liquor) – First Place
4. Self Promotion (Community Service) – First Place
5. Self Promotion (Awards) – Second Place
6. Best Opinion Article – Third Place
7. Best Original Photography (Ad or Editorial) – Third Place
8. Best Special Promotion or Special Section – Third Place
Over the past five years, the team at the Fillmore County Journal has been recognized with a total of 177 awards in the areas of editorial content, layout, advertising design, and digital presence from three organizations: Minnesota Newspaper Association, Midwest Free Community Publications, and Association of Community Publishers.
