Joanne Marie Williams

Joanne Marie (Rowe) Williams, age 64, of Wykoff, Minn., died Sunday, November 9, 2014, at her home with her family by her side.

Joanne was born April 27, 1950, in Wykoff, the daughter of Arthur “Art” and Maxine (Sutherland) Rowe. She graduated from Wykoff High School. On June 22, 1968, she married Alan D. Williams at the First Methodist Church in Wykoff. She worked at various locations, including being the co-owner/operator of the Wykoff Rec Center and Forest-Inn Restaurant. She recently retired from the Kingsland Public School District.

Joanne enjoyed spending time at the cabin hunting with the family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her four beautiful granddaughters.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Alan; sons, Colin (Paula McGranahan) Williams of Prior Lake, Minn., and Bruce (Stacy Simonson) Williams of Milford, Kan.; four granddaughters: Abigail, Alexandra, Hailey and Chloe; father-in-law, Roger Mensink of Wykoff: six siblings, Janice (Jerry) Bartsch of Preston, Leroy (Marlys) Rowe of Wykoff, Rick (Janelle) Rowe of Spring Valley, Judy (Larry) Schmoll of Rochester, Bob (Julianne) Rowe of Fillmore and Tom Rowe of Wykoff and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marilyn; brother, Gary; and sister-in-law, Anne.

A memorial service was held 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014, in the old gymnasium at the Kingsland Middle School in Wykoff with Rev. Amanda Larsen of the Wykoff United Methodist Church officiating. Burial of her ashes took place in the Wykoff Cemetery. There was a visitation 5 – 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Thauwald Funeral Home in Wykoff. www.thauwaldfuneralhomes.com.

Owen Patrick Mulhern was born September 28, 2014 to Patrick Mulhern and Samantha Brockway of Wykoff. Owen weighed 6 lb 14 oz and was 19.5” long. Grandparents are John and Julie Mulhern, Marni and Bill Woltz, and Shawn and Judith Brockway.

Wykoff taking bids for community center updates
