By Gary Peterson

The Spring Valley City Council met on Monday, June 10 and dealt with a few items of business. Pearson Brothers of Hanover, Minn. had submitted a quote to furnish material and labor in accordance with specifications for installation of CRS2 Liquid Asphalt at .28 gallons per square yard. They will also provide an aggregate cover at 1/8 inch trap rock at 20 pounds per square yard. The entire area will be rolled with pneumatic tire rollers. After the application excess rock will be picked up by and disposed of by Pearson Bros.

The cost to the city will be $107,703 for liquid asphalt. $10,185 for parking lots, $11,000 to fog seal the bike path and then $12,000 for the waste water gravel road. The start date on the progress is no earlier than May 15 and must be completed no later than September 15.

Deb Zimmerman told the council that the City will need to redo some of the streets in the city every five years.

An announcement was made that the Small Cities Grant has been received. The total amount of the Grant is $759,750 that will be used to fund the downtown revitalization programs that had been approved by the city council.
