Letter about sharing opinions...

Mon, Apr 13th, 2015
Posted in Spring Valley Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

It made me proud to live in Fillmore County when I read and observed all the different and numerous opinions/commentary sent in and published in this last week’s Fillmore County Journal. Wow, there are many here who take the job of government by and of the people seriously. It is time consuming, takes a lot of thought and is very brave to let your voice be heard in a public forum. It is so vital to a democracy that this open exchange of thought processes and ideas are shared. Whether we agree or disagree, I am in awe of all those who are and have been sharing last week and every week. We have a valuable asset in our area with the owner and publisher of the Fillmore County Journal. These efforts are what makes me tear up on Memorial Day, Veterans Day and most of all, the 4th of July.

Being an American is hard work and demands bravery of all kinds.

To all I say thank you for caring.

To the Editor, Yvonne Nyenhuis’ defense of the pro-choice position consistently misses the mark (“Concerning women’s healthcare,” Aug 25). She argues that facilities like Planned Parenthood provide essential healthcare to women, but that .....

To the Editor, I read Mrs. Nyenhuis’ letter about health care and some red flags were very apparent to me. I found it hypocritical of her to talk about how well her knee is doing and how lucky she is to have her husband after his diabetic trauma .....

To the Editor, As I have tried to study silica sand mine issues in southeastern Minnesota, I have to say I am a bit disappointed in Minnesotans. It appears that our stance is one of “let’s do what we can to prevent silica sand mining in southea .....
