LANESBORO, MN - December 2, 2014 – Lanesboro Arts has won a 2014 Bush Prize for Community Innovation from the Bush Foundation. The prestigious prize was awarded to ten organizations in a three-state region that have demonstrated a strong commitment to creative, innovative problem-solving.

“Lanesboro Arts has a remarkable story of innovation that is a testament to the power of inclusive, collaborative and resourceful problem-solving,” said Bush Foundation president Jennifer Ford Reedy. “We are thrilled to promote this innovative organization and provide it with creative capital to tackle its next big idea.”

“This incredible honor recognizes the progress Lanesboro has made over the past 30 years,” says John Davis, executive director of Lanesboro Arts. “We’re excited to use this opportunity to build capacity for our organization and continue to serve the community.”

The Bush Prize honors and supports organizations with a proven record of creating innovative solutions to address community challenges and opportunities. Winners are chosen for innovations that have been developed through inclusive, collaborative processes focused on making the most of community assets, and that are more effective, equitable or sustainable than existing approaches.

“The history of the organization, beginning with the Lanesboro Art Council in 1980, demonstrates the values of the Bush Prize,” said Davis. “The revitalization of the St. Mane Theatre, the merger with Cornucopia Art Center, and most recently the implementation of the Lanesboro Arts Campus vision, have all contributed to the vibrancy of Lanesboro’s arts community. We’re proud to continue carrying the torch for the artists, audiences, and community members who started this organization long ago.”

Bush Prizes are awarded to organizations of all sectors, from healthcare to social services to economic development. The Bush Foundation serves Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, and the 23 Native nations that share the same geography. This year, 10 Bush Prizes were awarded; Lanesboro Arts was one of only four organizations in Minnesota to receive the Bush Prize. 2014 Bush Prize winners: Minnesota: Breaking Free, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Rochester; Cannon River Watershed Partnership, Northfield; Lanesboro Arts, Lanesboro; Native American Community Development Institute, Minneapolis. South Dakota: Face It TOGETHER, Sioux Falls; .....
