‘Gospel’ is the theme for the upcoming “Over the Back Fence” Community Variety Show, held on Friday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Mane Theatre in Lanesboro, Minn. Show highlights will include a visit from Lena Ann (portrayed by Nancy Huisenga, taking time out from her busy schedule as Madame Arcati in the Commonweal Theatre’s production of Blithe Spirit next door); skits, quizzes, poems and jokes; music by The Take Note Choir, the Joe Van Ryn duo, and the Rutabaga Brothers; ‘Chico Gospel’ by Sandy Webb & Barb Keith; sing-alongs of “This Little Light of Mine” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” with the Over the Back Fence gang; and more. In a sponsor interview, we will learn about the Lanesboro Public Library with Tara Johnson. Host Damon Prestemon will be on his toes as usual, and Rita Dalzell will be at the piano. Come early! Pre-show music starts at 7:10 p.m. with Tom Schramm & Walter Bradley.

The “Over the Back Fence” Community Variety Show is a program of Lanesboro Arts Center. The show took shape 18 years ago in the St. Mane Theatre, with many of the same cast members involved. “Over the Back Fence” takes the stage at the St. Mane Theatre on 2nd Fridays February through November. Each show will also be broadcast on KFIL Radio 103.1FM at 7 p.m. on the Sunday nine days following each live show. Show tickets are $7 for adults and for $4 students. Advance purchase is recommended, as this show plays to a full house! Tickets are available at the Lanesboro Arts Center, 507-467-2446 (open Mon-Thurs 10-5, Fri-Sat 10-7 and Sunday 11-3), and—if any tickets are left—at the St. Mane Theatre beginning at 6:30 p.m. on show nights. The St. Mane Theatre is handicapped accessible, located at 206 Parkway Ave N. in Lanesboro, Minn. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
