The Harmony Arts Board is hosting an Art Show featuring the paintings of award-winning local artist JONI FINNEGAN on Saturday, November 3 1-4 pm at the Quarter/QUARTER Restaurant in Harmony. The Art Show promises to be a delightful event. Chef Stephen Larson will serve a selection of complimentary gourmet appetizers throughout the afternoon, accompanied by Quarter/QUARTER’s coffee. The wine bar will be open should one want to purchase a beverage. Chef Stephen Larson is the celebrity chef featured on the KSMQ public television station’s “Garden Connections” series. The free appetizers will be served courtesy of the Arts Board.
The Nov. 3rd Art Show is titled “Paths Less Taken.” Joni is a talented artist whose home and studio are located in the country between Harmony and Lanesboro, Minn. She has been drawn to the creative expression of her art since childhood. Ms. Finnegan’s current collection of work focuses on studies from nature revealing the softer side of the outdoor world, many from local settings, inviting the viewer to walk into her art and experience the moment.
Her artwork has been published in magazines, newspapers and books. Her paintings are widely owned both privately and in the corporate setting. Joni has received several awards for her works at a number of exhibitions and shows around the Upper Midwest. Recently she has been honored by being selected for the Festival Committee’s Best of Show Award at the 2011 Driftless Area Art Festival in Soldiers Grove, WI. One of her images was also selected for the 2012 festival poster. The Driftless Area Art Festival is a highly acclaimed juried celebration of the visual, performance, and culinary arts held annually in September. In August, two of Joni’s paintings were selected for the limited juried group art show, “Our Minnesota” held at the beautiful Maple Grove Art Center Gallery. Both images, one titled “ Apple Lane” and the other “Garden Retreat” represented landscapes from our area. “Garden Retreat” was painted in the Fillmore garden of Loni Kemp and Dick Nethercut. Ms. Finnegan demonstrated her awe-inspiring plien air painting techniques before the Harmony Garden Club, hosted by Cindy Ofstedal.
Come enjoy some wonderful visual and culinary treats, some of the best to be found anywhere - all the better because they are found here locally!
