The small town churches of Southeastern Minnesota add as much charm to bluff country as a lot of the scenery and local businesses do. Whether it’s a bake sale, vacation bible school program, a dinner, or a concert, our numerous local churches add so much to the local atmosphere of our communities. The Fountain United Methodist Church is just one of them.
On Sunday, May 19, a crowd gathered to enjoy an afternoon Cowboy Church concert and food provided by the United Methodist Women at the Fountain Community Center. Featured music included genres of country, bluegrass, as well as gospel. Several local musicians, including the Arnold-Bradley Band with Sarah Peterson, Denise Hays, Leonard Leutink, Paul Schmidt & Vaughan, Cindy Seabright, Dale and Barb Schafer, Arlen Sloan, Gaye Stockdale, Roger Svebakken, and pianists Luann Jones and Mitchell Walbridge, provided their talents for the afternoon.
The concert was held to benefit the Fillmore County Food Shelf as well as the Fountain United Methodist Church, which will soon undergo a roof repair project. Several food items were collected from generous donors, and the congregation of the Fountain United Methodist Church is very thankful for the donations it received Sunday afternoon to help reach the fundraising goal.
The beginning of the Fountain United Methodist Church dates back over a century. Although there is no exact date recorded, sources state the church began between 1906 and 1912. Now, more than 100 years later, the church continues in ministry lead by Pastor Beth Perez.
As the Fountain United Methodist Church continues to serve in mission, the church will continue to collect donations for the roof repair project. If you were not able to attend the concert and are interested in donating, donations can be sent to Fountain United Methodist Church at P.O. Box 46, Fountain, Minnesota 55935.
The next Cowboy Church Service is scheduled for June 2 at 6:00pm at the United Methodist Church in Cherry Grove Minn. Cowboy Church Services are open to the public and appeal to those who enjoy a more relaxed service as well as enjoyable music. On Sunday, June 2 Pastor Mark Rader will lead his last Cowboy Church Service as he will be moving to Wyoming at the end of June.
The Fountain United Methodist Church always has its doors open to the public inviting you to worship. Worship time is Sunday mornings beginning at 8:30am. The chur .....
