Chatfield hires deputy clerk

Posted in Chatfield Government

At a special meeting of the Chatfield city council held on December 29, Nancy Timm was hired as the new deputy city clerk effective January 12, 2015. Councilor Ken Jacobson was absent.

Former deputy clerk Mary Peterson resigned to take a position at Mayo Clinic about a month ago after 18 years of service with the city. An internal posting to fill the position was made. Timm, currently a city employee in an EMS support position, applied for the job. City clerk Joel Young said city staff and the personnel committee recommended hiring Timm. The council approved the hire.

Other business on brief

•The council approved an agreement with Smith, Schafer and Associates, LTD., certified public accountants, to complete the audit for the year ending December 31, 2014. The cost to the city will be $18,150, which is about a 3 percent increase from the prior year. Smith, Schafer has been doing Chatfield’s audit for about five years.

•Paul and Kim Novotny requested a property conveyance to combine 544 Hillside Drive SE and outlot A into one parcel, where they intend to build a home. Young explained the request had not went through Planning and Zoning because it was not necessary in a case like this. The council could approve, reject, or ask for more information about the request. Outlot A has no current street access. Young said that he and Kristi Clarke recommend approval. The conveyance was approved. Councilor Paul Novotny abstained.

•A bingo license was approved for St. Mary’s Catholic Church for four dates during 2015, including January 24.
