Chatfield Western Days “spurs fun for all”

Western Days 2013 in Chatfield, Minn., was held August 8 - 11, was packed full of events the entire four days of the celebration with activities taking place from one end of town to the other and everywhere in between.

Wit’s End Theatre presented its production of “Monty Python’s Spamalot” each night of Western Days which had many people in Potter Auditorium laughing out loud.

Thursday evening the Chatfield Fish and Game Club held open trap shooting.

Bingo was played in the City Park on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and the seats under the bingo tent always seemed to have people in them. An ATV Trail Ride took place Friday leaving from the Trail Head and the Minnesota Horse and Pony Pullers were also in town.

A book sale was held at the Pavlish Building and First Aid/Blood Pressure checks were available in the City Park by the Chatfield EMS.

A carnival by Cody Amusements was in the park from Friday to Sunday with rides and games for the children to enjoy along with many types of food and treats throughout the park. Food was available in all shapes and sizes over Western Days weekend.

Some of the food choices were the R-4 Meat wagon serving steak sandwiches, the Pony Express, Methodist Church Stand, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Paul Lutheran Church and Pioneer Presbyterian also having stands with many selections to choose from.

The Beer Garden, held at the Fire Hall, is a very popular place during Western Days and is sponsored by the Chatfield Fire Department and held at the Fire Hall. A Lions Club Hog raffle was an event scores of people wanted to be a part of to see if they had good luck.

Hanson Girls’ Concessions, Gleason’s Concessions, Chatfield Ambulance EMS, Stumpy’s pizza, and the “Squeeze Shack” brought even more choices. The VFW Chicken BBQ which never fails to satisfy was held on Saturday and provided a filling meal at a reasonable price. The Commercial Club got Sunday started off with a Pancake Breakfast which is a favorite of many residents.

The first ever Bandtown Friday Night Jam had groups and individuals sitting down to the enjoy the music along with the beautiful evening weather. Entertainment was provided by CBB Jazz Combo with Steve Strange, and Casey and the Good Timers. KROC’s Music on Wheels entertained a crowd at the Bernard Bus Garage which was sponsore .....
