Since the loss of their church by a devastating fire on April 16, 2016, the congregation of Henrytown Lutheran Church may have been without their church but they never lost faith.

Before the smoke had cleared from the fire at Henrytown Lutheran Church, the members of the congregation vowed to rebuild.

The process of that rebuilding has now begun as Smidt Construction of Racine, Minn., has started constructing the frame of the new church.

Rochelle Middendorf, secretary of Henrytown Lutheran Church says the church will be tan in color and will have stone accents. The front of the church will have a stone entryway with a lighted cross.

The overall footprint of the building is 110 feet by 70 feet. The total square footage will be 6,260 square feet. The exterior siding will be steel with metal roofing.

Contractor Scott Campbell with Smidt Companies says, “I would describe the building as pre-engineered steel building,” having 2,100 square feet of sanctuary; a 2,400 square foot fellowship hall with kitchen, restrooms, office, mechanical and storage areas.

Fay Garness, treasurer of Henrytown Lutheran Church council, states that they hope the construction will be complete and the congregation settled into their new house of worship by the end of the year with “substantial completion” by November 1.

Progress of the building of the new Henrytown Lutheran church can be followed on the church’s Facebook page at facebook/Henrytown-Lutheran-Church.
