Fillmore County boasts four wrestling teams, FCLMC, GMLOK, LARP, and Chatfield. By the end of day one of the section 1A and 1AA team wrestling tournaments, only one survived: the Chatfield Gophers. Seeded #3 in 1A, the Gophers watched #11 Lake City upset #6 St. Charles. Chatfield then ended Lake City's mini-Cinderella run with an emphatic 65-9 thumping. The Gophers only lost matches at 140 and at 160. LARP won their opening round 4-versus-13 contest with Southland (57-22). They then faced fifth seeded Hayfield. An epic bout took place at 130 where LARP's 6th ranked Jordan Theede lost 13-12 to Hayfield's 8th ranked Mason Moreno. At the end of the meet, the score was knotted at 30. Using the first criteria, most match wins (8-6), Hayfield advanced to the semifinals. In section 1AA, #9 GMLOK lost to #8 Cannon Falls 54-28. Per the norm, GMLOK went 5-0 in actual matches; they forfeited the other nine. Finally, #10 FCLMC fell to #7 WEM/JWP 60-12. FCLMC only won matches at 152 and 215. (Note: Chatfield later lost to #2 seed Kenyon-Wanamingo, ending their team aspirations)
