In what appears to be somewhat of a failed sex offender registry tracking system from one state to another, the pursuit of Scott Sorenson resulted in the discovery of a methamphetamine laboratory in Amherst Township. This discovery led to the arrest of Heather Laine, 37, and Adam Laine, 28, along with Scott Sorenson, 42, from Decorah, Iowa.
On Tuesday, February 8, a search warrant was served on the residence of 19235 County Road 21 in rural Lanesboro by The Southeast Minnesota Narcotics and Gang Task Force, the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department, and the United States Marshals Service.
A press release issued by the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department stated that all three suspects face drug charges ranging from sale and possession of methamphetamine to manufacturing methamphetamine. Heather and Adam Laine are currently being held at the Fillmore County Jail on one million dollars unconditional or one hundred thousand dollars conditional bail. Sorenson was taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service and will face federal charges for failing to register as a sex offender.
According to the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department, they are not aware of any criminal history relating to Heather and Adam Laine.
However, Sorenson has a criminal history resulting in his registration as a sex offender, according to the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department press release.
While Sorenson was referenced in the press release as being from Decorah, Iowa, a search of the Iowa Sex Offender Registry website www.iowasexoffender.com does not show his name or aliases registered in the state of Iowa. In addition, a search of the Minnesota Sex Offender website www.corr.state.mn.us/level3 does not show Sorenson's registration.
In addition to both Iowa and Minnesota online sex offender registry resources not showing Scott Sorenson as a registered sex offender, the commonly used resource of www.familywatchdog.us does not show Sorenson as a registered sex offender in any state.
The only website that gives any information relating to Scott Sorenson as a sex offender is www.homefacts.com. That website indicates that Scott Sorenson is registered as a sex offender in Decorah, Iowa, for offenses relating to the possession of child porn on a computer in February of 2000.
Regarding the methamphetamine laboratory discovered in Amherst Township this past Tuesday, when asked if this was a sign of a growing concern i .....
