Raymond A. Beier, 87, of rural Stanley, Iowa died Dec. 1, 2002 in Independence, Iowa.
He was born Aug. 7, 1915 in Buchanan Co, near Rowley, Iowa, the son of August Frederick and Hattie Delia (Premus) Beier. He attended the country school. On Oct. 21, 1939, he and Helen Margaret Krueger were married in Waterloo, Iowa. They farmed his parents farm near Rowley until purchasing their own land in 1950 near Stanley, Iowa. Mr. Beier was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, Iowa.
He is survived by three sons, John Beier of Stanley, Jerry (Ginny) Beier of Oelwein, and Donald (Carolyn) Beier of Stanley, Iowa; two daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Gartner of Preston, and Karen (Calvin) Harks of Brandon, Iowa. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Erna Nieman of Muscatine, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, Diane Cusick, his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral service were held Dec. 5, 2002 at the White Funeral Home in Independence with pastor Leo Combs-Lay officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. White Funeral Home of Independence was in charge of arrangements.
