Amy - Curtis Lon

Curtis Lon Amy, 75, of Chatfield, died March 16, 2004 at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where he had lived since Nov. 10, 2003. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 1998.

Born Sept. 3, 1928, in Decorah, Iowa, he lived in Iowa as a child, later moved to the Harmony-Preston area and graduated from Preston High School in 1947. On Sept. 24, 1949, he married Phyllis Bacon in Preston. They moved to Chatfield in 1953 and he worked in service and repair at the Chatfield hardware store. In 1969 he and his wife became partners in Chatfield Mobile Village. They later became the sole owners and operated it until the time of his death. Mr. Amy formerly owned the Preston Laundromat and for 15 years was in charge of maintenance at Chosen Valley Care Center. He had served on the Chatfield City Council and was a member of the Chatfield Commercial Club.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Conrad (Chris) of rural Lanesboro, Wayne (Julie) of Elmore, Minn., Kerry (Marianne) of Rochester and Donald (Barbara) of Chatfield; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Loren (Ellen) of Dennison, Minn., Gaylon (Marge) of Chatfield, Allen of Minnetonka, Minn., and Erwin (Pat) of Carver, Minn.; and three sisters, Maxine (Francis) Eischen and Gloria (Dan) Swanson, both of Minnetonka, and Juanita (Harold) Hansen of Pine City, Minn. A brother preceded him in death.

The funeral for Curtis Lon Amy was March 20, 2004 at the United Methodist Church in Chatfield, with the Rev. Jack Smith officiating. Burial was in Fountain Lutheran Cemetery in rural Fountain. Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield was in charge of arrangements.
