Vivian M. McKenzie, 94, of Preston, died May 30, 2005 at Preston Good Samaritan Center.

Vivian M. Wilder was born Feb. 5, 1911, in La Crosse, Wis. to Merrill and Minnette (Eggen) Wilder. She attended grade school in La Crosse and graduated from Preston High School in 1929. After graduation, she moved to La Crosse and worked at the Gauge Factory. On June 18, 1932, she married Kenneth R. Pickett in LaCrescent, Minn., and they moved back to Preston. Mr. Pickett died in 1938. She remained in Preston and worked at various restaurants, such as the Preston Creamery and Bagels. On April 9, 1955, she married Donald Chilson in Preston; he died in 1966. On March 29, 1969, she married Ralph (Jack) McKenzie at Preston United Methodist Church; Mr. McKenzie died in 1975. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Homemakers Club, RSVP, Eastern Star, and Senior Citizens; and volunteered at the Rest Home.

Survivors include three sons, Jerry Pickett and Merrill Pickett, both of Preston, and Ronald Pickett of Rochester; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Kostecki of Galesville, Wis., and Ethel Wadell of Chula Vista, Calif.; and one brother, Ronald Wilder of Chula Vista. She was preceded in death by one grandson, three brothers and two sisters.

The funeral for Vivian M. McKenzie was June 3 at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, with the Revs. James Rushton and Jennifer Fite officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery in Preston. Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston was in charge of arrangements.
