As I sat in church at Rushford Lutheran with my family early this past Christmas Eve, I was overtaken by an awesome spectacle. It was the light of sunset illuminating the figure of Christ, the Good Shepherd, on the huge stained glass window of the church's south wall. How sad it was to realize that this magnificent example of Christian art, which has stood in that place for over a century, will soon be completely disassembled and moved! From its new location it will never again cast its inspirational glow over assembled groups of worshippers.

It was painful also, to realize that a large exterior portion of this church will soon be hidden forever behind a new addition. How tragic it is that future generations will never witness firsthand the original beauty of this magnificent Fillmore County landmark!

Hopefully, the people of Rushford Lutheran will discover a creative new way in which to utilize the space which is presently available. In this way their needs could be met without destroying the unique, original character of this wonderful historic building.
