Get It in Writing

Tue, Apr 9th, 2013
Posted in All Faith & Worship

These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:31 NIV

Have you ever experienced an unwritten policy? This is the “policy” that is orally expressed by management to the employees. Because the policy is never put into a written form no one really knows what the policy covers and how it should be interpreted. The person in management can change and adjust the policy to accomplish their goals. Have you experienced some other form of unwritten contracts or agreements? Did it leave you frustrated or worse? The best course is always to get something in writing.

Getting it in writing is also good regarding matters of religion. Imagine the frustration people experience when they are never sure about what God wants from them. Ever changing doctrines and promises leads one to suspect human manipulation. The Bible is filled with passages like, “Then the angel said to me, ‘Write this: …These are the true words of God.’” Revelation 19:9 NIV God backs the Bible with his authority and puts his name on the final product. God is clear about what he wants from us and makes clear a price was paid for our mistakes and sins. God is not like our boss or some crooked individual who wants to take advantage of us. He only wants what is good for us. He makes it clear by putting it in writing.

See you in church!
