Fillmore Free Methodist Church Groundbreaking Ceremony

On Sunday, June 26, the Fillmore Free Methodist Church (in the village of Fillmore) held a groundbreaking ceremony for an addition to the church building. The planned construction is a new fellowship hall and entryway.
For about a year, the Fillmore Church Building Committee of Ken Baker, Dale Benike, Kent Erding, Dave O'Byrne, Dave Roberts, Dale Shafer, and Pastor Mike Hopper has met together and drawn up plans. Suggestions from the church leaders and congregation were incorporated into the design originally developed about six years ago. Much of the work will be done by professional construction persons who attend the Fillmore Church.
In 1914, the Fillmore Church was started, and shortly after that, the original church sanctuary was built. In 1948, a basement was added as well as a new entryway. In 1973, a fellowship hall and classrooms further expanded this facility. And in 2006, ground was broken for the addition of a new sanctuary, offices, five classrooms, restrooms, kitchen, and expanded parking.
According to Pastor Mike Hopper, "This new fellowship hall addition is needed to provide for current and future ministry to children, youth, and adults. This expanded facility will serve as an important tool in helping accomplish our mission to 'plant spiritual seeds through evangelism, cultivate spiritual growth, and harvest dedicated workers and leaders for Christ.'" If you would like to know more about the Fillmore Church or this building project, please contact Pastor Mike Hopper at (507) 352-5455.
