Singing is one way the ministry of Grace Place comes to individuals. From the first musical, “Hello, how are you” people are drawn in to a melodic relationship with Carla as she encourages musical interaction with young and old. The interaction is heart-warming and reminiscent of the days when families made music together in the parlor with grandma playing the piano or papa playing the fiddle. Keeping traditional music fresh for the next generation with her guitar or just her solo voice Carla spends many happy hours inspiring young families with children at Grace Place to enjoy the rhythm of life together.
The singing however is not just within the walls of Grace Place. Often Carla has been invited to musically share the love in her heart with churches, schools, community events, senior living centers, weddings, funerals and benefits for individuals and groups. Recently, a few of the volunteers at the Rushford site were inspired to join Carla at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home after she spent an hour with a captivated audience of infants and preschoolers. The Ladies of Grace spent a few hours of sheer delight with the residents as they sang, danced, smiled, hugged and reminisced with an appreciative audience. Plans are to continue the visits quarterly on an ongoing basis. The group will also be singing at the Rushford Senior Dining Center and Houston Senior Dining as well.
Carla is collaborating with Good Shepherd Daycare to bring an interactive music class called Evening Song to families who have children 18mos or younger. The goal is to encourage caregivers to joyfully interact with their babies through bouncing them on their knees to the beat of a happy tune, vocal play, sign language and many other activities. If you would like to register for this class call 452-2283. The 45 min. class will be held at Good Shepherd Daycare in Rushford beginning at 5:30 on April 23 and May28th.
The Singinglady, as she is often called will make a guest appearance at Rushford ECFE classes on April 25th, 26th and May 9th, 10th. Please contact Lacy at Rushford/Peterson Schools to be part of this class. Watch for the Summer Class Schedule coming soon.
Singing is good for the soul and laughter is good medicine. When Carla was a young girl the song, I ‘d Like to Teach the World to Sing was popular, she has taken this statement to heart as part of her life mission. She believes music is a powerful way to inspire, encoura .....
