• Sara Jo Wead, 30, of Lanesboro, was charged in Fillmore County District Court on Monday, April 7, with writing a false check, a felony.

According to court records, it is alleged that Wead purchased a new refrigerator from a Harmony business in July 2006 for $1170.44. Wead agreed to make installment payments for the purchase, eventually sending 13 checks to the vendor with instructions to cash them on a monthly basis. There were insufficient funds in Wead's account to handle the amount in the checks.

Judge Robert Benson released Wead on her own recognizance pending her next court appearance on April 21, 2008.

• Henry James Derks, 48, of Spring Valley, was charged in District Court on April 7 with felony driving while under the influence.

According to the criminal complaint, it is alleged that on April 5, 2008 Derks was driving erratically in Spring Valley and stopped by law enforcement who suspected Derks of driving while intoxicated. Due to the fact that Derks has three prior convictions for driving under the influence, he was taken to Detox in Rochester.

Judge Benson released Derks on his own recognizance pending his next court appearance on April 21, 2008. As a condition of release, Derks must comply with daily chemical testing.

• Anton Nicholas Semmen, 28, of Lanesboro, was charged in District Court on April 7 with fleeing a police officer, a felony. In addition, he is charged with driving while under the influence and failure to make a turn- signal

According to court records, it is alleged that on April 5, Semmen fled from a police officer after the officer tried to stop Semmen's car for a traffic violation. Semmen eventually crashed his vehicle and was arrested. A breath test indicated an alcohol level of greater than .20.

Judge Benson released Semmen on his own recognizance pending his next court appearance on April 21. As a condition of release, Semmen must submit to daily chemical testing.

• Nathan Ray Feltis, 23, of Spring Valley, was charged in District Court on April 7 with two counts of criminal sexual contact, both felonies.

According to court records, it is alleged that Feltis had sexual relations with a 15 year old minor female on three occasions in late 2007.

Judge Benson released Feltis on his own recognizance, pending his next court appearance on April 21. Feltis is being represented by Attorney George Restovich of Rochester.
