Felony Charges

A Mabel man was charged in Fillmore County District Court on Tuesday, April 14, with six counts of criminal sexual conduct.

According to court documents, it is alleged that Stanley William Bahr had sexual contact with a female minor under the age of 13 in June 2005. Bahr denies the allegations.

Judge Robert Benson released Bahr on his own recognizance on the condition that Bahr have no contact with the victim. A restraining order has been issued in the case.

Judge Benson set Bahr's next court appearance for June 22, 2009. Bahr is being represented by Attorney Tom Manion.

Felony Sentencing

Chad Richard Jones, 34, of Spring Valley was sentenced on Tuesday, April 14, to five years probation after pleading guilty to two felony counts of theft and one count of receiving stolen property.

Jones admitted to the court that between May and July 2008, he stole a tractor and other equipment from a rural Spring Valley farm, as well as two motor vehicles from a Cherry Grove couple. Some of the items were sold for scrap metal and some farm equipment was put up for sale at a auction company in Olmsted County.

Judge Benson sentenced Jones on each count, staying execution of sentencing in each case. In addition to probation, Benson ordered Jones to pay $600 in fines and make restitution of $9515. He was also ordered to serve 60 days in jail, with credit for time served.

Jones was represented in court by public defender Fred Suhler, Jr.
