The Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, Inc. (SEMAC) announces a call for grant proposals, due by April 1, 2010.
I. ARTS AND CULTURAL HERITAGE FUND GRANTS
Up to $10,000 proposals for innovative arts activities that increase access to the arts, life-long arts learning opportunities, and cultural experiences are accepted. Must support activities in three key areas as specified in the Minnesota Constitution: (A) Arts and Arts Access; (B) Arts Education, and (C) Arts and Cultural Heritage. SEMAC strongly encourages applicants to research and develop projects that incorporate two or more key areas with an emphasis on creating lasting partnerships among regional nonprofit arts organizations and other nonprofit groups. A 20 percent match is required.
Future funding of Arts and Cultural Heritage Grants depends on appropriate use of current funding. SEMAC urges arts organizations, non-arts organizations with an arts component, and government entities to apply. First-time applicants must call the SEMAC office to sign up for a grant writing workshop. All applicants are encouraged to attend these workshops. Additional due dates this year are June 15, and October 1, 2010.
Funding for matching grants of up to $3,000 is also offered in the following categories. Projects must take place between June 1, 2010 and May 31, 2011.
II. PRESENTER/PRODUCTION ASSISTANCE GRANTS
A. Presenter Assistance accepted from arts organizations intending to sponsor appearances by touring artists or companies demonstrating a high level of artistic quality.
B. Production Assistance to support activities directly involved in the creation, performance, publication, and exhibition of art. Applications for either an art production project involved in the development of an art form or promoting the artistic growth of artists associated with the organization; or an administrative support project focusing on the administrative development of the organization.
III. SMALL TOWNS/RURAL AREAS GRANTS
Individual artists, educational institutions, units of government, or arts organizations located in a town with a population of 7500 or fewer. This support may be used for assistance in activities, which directly involve the creation, performance, publication, or exhibition of art or assistance in administrative, operating, or capital expenditures.
