Fillmore County 4-H favorite food show held

On March 20th, fifteen Fillmore County 4-H members participated in the annual 4-H Favorite Food Show. This year's show was held at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley.

Participants were broken into four age divisions. In the Cloverbud division, grades K-2, there were four participants. Morgan Langeslag, of the Bloomfield Cloverleaves 4-H club, made a tractor and wagon using meat and cheese; Alexis Williams, of the Mabel Busy Bees, made Mysterious Colorful Jiggles; Logan Jennson, of the Lanesboro Livewires, made Apple Slices with Peanut Butter; and Morgan Pickett, of the Carimona Cruisers, made snack pizzas. This group each completed a conference judging experience with the judge and each participant received a 4-H cup and participation ribbon.

In the Beginner division, grades 3-5, there were also four participants. Heather Apenhorst, of the Bloomfield Cloverleaves, made Potato Apple Bake; Jacob Welch, of the Bloomfield Cloverleaves, made Vegetable Pizza; Lea Jensson, of the Lanesboro Livewires, made Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza; and Philip Whalen Engesser, of the Bloomfield Cloverleaves, made Mom's Goulash. First place in this age division went to Lea Jensson, 2nd to Jacob Welch and honorable mentions to Heather Apenhorst and Philip Whalen Engesser.

In the Intermediate division, there were also four participants. Amy Welch, of the Bloomfield Cloverleaves, made Cranberry Scones; Camille Rasmussen, of the Root River Rabbits, made Corn and Sweet Potato Chowder; Jackie Apenhorst, of the Bloomfield Cloverleaves, make Chicken Alfredo Pizza Rounds; Thomas Whalen Engesser, of the Bloomfield Cloverleaves, made Oatmeal Muffins. First place in this age division went to Camille Rasmussen, second place to Jackie Apenhorst and honorable mentions to Amy Welch and Thomas Whalen Engesser.

In the Senior division, there were three participants. Margaret Alexander, of the Carimona Cruisers, made Asian Orange Chicken; James Whalen Engesser, of the Bloomfield Cloverleaves, made Pizza Casserole; and John Whalen Engesser, of the Bloomfield Cloverleaves, made Twice Baked Potatoes. First place in this age division was awarded to Margaret Alexander with James Whalen Engesser receiving second place and John Whalen Engesser receiving an honorable mention.

The state fair line-up for the day was as follows:
