Lanesboro, Minnesota: "Friends of the St. Mane Theatre" will host a bar-b-que fundraiser to be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2010, from 5-9 p.m. at Green Gables Inn, 303 Sheridan Street West in Lanesboro. The public is welcome to come and enjoy burgers, brats, lovely sides, chips & beverages, rain or shine. A small sealed bid art auction and lawn games will also be featured! A free will offering will be accepted, with proceeds funding the renovation and revitalization of the historic St. Mane Theatre in Lanesboro.

Since the merger between Lanesboro Art Council and the Cornucopia Art Center in December 2009 - creating the Lanesboro Arts Center -- The historic St. Mane Theatre has undergone many improvements. As facility manager, Bill Swanson has overseen a variety of projects, mostly carried out by volunteers! The Theatre lobby has been painted, the seats and carpets have been cleaned, the floor joists under the stage have been strengthened, the rear roof has been fixed to avoid ice jams, and the basement has been cleaned of organic materials to eliminate moisture odors. Projects on the docket include converting the upstairs space into a working art studio/apartment for classes and Lanesboro Residency Program artists, and improving the sound system by installing a storage system and re-routing sound cables underneath the seats. In the meantime, the St. Mane Theatre continues to host a variety of performances - including documentary films, music concerts, multi-disciplinary performances like the flamenco poetry event, and theater. Note: upcoming event is the "Rhubarb Sisters . . . & Guests" on Saturday, June 5. For more information about "Friends of the St. Mane Theatre," contact Ross Trotterchaude at 612-669-3014.

Lanesboro Arts Center has been providing year-round arts programming for more than twenty-five years.
