Gaynol Louise Meyer

Gaynol Louise Meyer, 92, of Spring Valley died Wednesday, January 10, 2001, at the Ostrander Nursing Home where she had resided for approximately two and a half years.

Born October 17, 1908, in Fairfield, Illinois to Jacob Fred Bauer and Martha Van Rhedean Bauer. She attended country schools through the 8th grade and on June 5, 1929 she was united in marriage to Herbert Meyer at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wykoff. MN and together they farmed in the Spring Valley area for many years. Gaynol live on their farm for over 70 years. She was a charter member of the First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley where she taught Sunday school for 32 years. She was also the AAL branch secretary for 25 years. She worked for Libby’s for a period of time and she loved to bake cakes, pies, bread and doughnuts.

Survivors include her children; Norma Westphal of Iowa City, Iowa, Wendell Meyer of Spring Valley, MN, Loren and wife (Jerry) Meyer of Paynesville, MN, Gloria and husband (Don) Richardson of Brownsdale, MN, Phyllis and husband (Percy) Hendrickson of Preston, MN, Merlin D. and wife (Laurie) Meyer of Mantorville, MN, 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Bernace Drinkall of Spring Valley, MN, Vera (Wessley) Kasten of Spring Valley, MN and Ora (Delmer) Olson of Paynesville, MN and a brother-in-law Earl Meyer of Spring Valley, MN. She is preceded in death by her husband in July 1962, 4 grandchilren, 1 great grandchild and 1 brother.

The funeral for Gaynol Meyer was held Saturday, January 13, 2001, at the First English Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Robert Burmeister officiating. Burial was in the Spring Valley Cemetery. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
