Bette R. Tangen

Bette R. Tangen, 64, of Spring Valley died December 20, 2001.

Bette Paulsen was born July 24, 1937, in Grand Meadow and grew up in the Ostrander area. She graduated from LeRoy High School in 1955. She worked as a nurse's aide in Worrall Hospital and later Methodist Hospital in Rochester. She married Roger Tangen on May 7, 1969, in Waconia, Minn. They lived in New Jersey for two years before returning to Minnesota. They lived in Zumbrota 24 years before moving to Spring Valley in 1996. She was a homemaker and her husband works at IBM. She was a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer for 12 years in Zumbrota and enjoyed gardening and the outdoors.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Eric (Rosemary) of St. Charles; her mother, Ruth Paulsen of Ostrander; a brother, Robert (Linda) Paulsen of Hackensack, Minn.; and a sister, Jean (Robert) McGraw of Gravette, Ark. She was preceded in death by her father.

The funeral was held December 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander with the Rev. Jane Timmerman officiating. Burial was in the Ostrander Cemetery. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
