In regards to the letter from Marc Prestby regarding the dismissal of the County Engineer, Mr. Prestby says they cannot respond to the rumors and gossip concerning this issue. Why not? You were elected to represent the citizens of this county, so why is it a problem to bring this out in the open?

If I remember from the Journals coverage, there was no discussion on this matter, just a motion and a vote. I think the Journal has been doing their job as professionals. If this is your attitude as a professional then perhaps the voters made a professional mistake electing you.

Keep the meetings professional and there shouldnt have to be rumors.

When I asked if the new Root River Trail Parking Area was in compliance with the states storm water regulation, the query was not referred to the DNR, but to the private consulting engineering firm that designed the project. The engineering consultant, not surprisingly, assured the council that everything was hunky-dory, thank you very much. I dont believe that the response addressed by question directly.

The parking area does not drain into the Bass Pond, as suggested in the article, but drains directly into the South Branch of the Root River. The South Branch is a very popular and productive fishery that is a significant tourism resource for Lanesboro. My objection to the construction details was not based on a hypothetical impact on w .....
