Paul A. Carstensen

Paul A. Carstensen, 76, of Preston, a retired garbage hauler, died September 19, 2001 at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

He was born April 13, 1925, in Dodge County and served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II. On Feb. 12, 1955, he married Ione Ristau in Rock Dell. They lived in Rochester until 1962 and then in Byron until moving to Preston in 1969. Mr. Carstensen worked for Watson Sanitation and then was a hauler for BFI until his retirement in 1995. His wife died Aug. 19, 1996. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, the Preston American Legion and VFW, and was a member and current president of Preston Senior Citizens. He enjoyed visiting friends and family in Preston Good Samaritan Care Center.

Survivors include four brothers, Russell and Lyle (Ruth), both of Byron, Clinton (Darlene) of Kasson and Clayton (Darlene) of Deerwood, MN. A sister preceded him in death.

The funeral for Paul A. Carstensen was September 22, 2001 at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, with the Rev. James Rushton officiating. Burial was in Carimona Cemetery in rural Preston with military graveside rites. Thauwald Funeral Home in Preston was in charge of arrangements.
