Lucille Evelyn Trouten

Lucille Evelyn Trouten, 81, of Mahtomedi, Minn., formerly of Harmony, died February 10, 2002 at New Prospective in Mahtomedi.

Lucille Evelyn Johnson was born March 12, 1920, to Helmer R. & Ella Arneson Johnson in Fremont Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa. She attended area country schools and graduated from Harmony High School in 1936. In 1939, she married Clair Trouten, and they farmed in Fremont Township before moving to Harmony in 1970. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's Pioneer Seed Corn business from 1950 to 1962, and worked for Harmony area schools from 1960 to 1982 as a bookkeeper and secretary to the superintendent. She was a member of State Line United Methodist Church where she was Sunday school superintendent and teacher, played piano and organ, was active in State Line United Methodist Women, served as financial secretary for many years and as treasurer of State Line Cemetery Association for 22 years. In Harmony, she was a member of Christian Women's Club, Harmony Hospital Auxiliary and Friendship Bible Coffees, played for sing-alongs at Harmony Community Nursing Home and volunteered at the tourist center. After suffering a stroke in June 2000, she lived at HealthEast Care Center in White Bear Lake, Minn., until entering New Prospective in Mahtomedi.

Survivors include a daughter, Myrna Trouten of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Bruce (Linda Anderson) of Vadnais Heights, Minn; a granddaughter; two stepgrandchildren; and two step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.

The funeral was held Feb. 15, 2002 at the United Methodist Church in Harmony, with the Rev. David Laechel officiating. Burial was in State Line Cemetery in Harmony. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony was in charge of arrangements.
