Notes from a Country Kitchen

Remember how us kids years ago had to memorize all our Christmas parts in both the country school play and also for our Church Christmas program. I know one thing our minds were stronger then, as now I can’t remember what I had for breakfast. It must of been very hard for our teachers in school and our Sunday school teachers to get all the program lined up and then practice and practice till it was right. It wasn’t just the program, but the teachers all gave us a little gift, maybe just a pencil with our name on it, but we were so proud of that little gift. These are some of my fondest memories.

Chuckle
A farmer was driving his prize cow to a cattle sale when a semi-trunk swerved into his land and slammed into his pickup. When the farmer came to, his truck was overturned and cow lay bruised and bleeding in the ditch. A State trooper arrived, saw the cow was suffering and shot her twice, then he peered into the pickup and asked the farmer how he felt. The farmer looked up, saw the gun and in a quavering voice, he said “I’ve never felt better in my life.”

Ole: I think some of da romance has gone out of my marriage - Lena just sent me a 25th Anniversary Card addressed to “Occupant.”

Give some people an inch and they think they are rulers.
. . . . .
Maturity is the stage of life when you don’t see eye to eye - but can walk arm to arm.
. . . . .
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
. . . . .
I can’t escape the telephone
It’s such a pesky thing
And yet I’m much too curious
To simply let it ring
. . . . .
Hint
When baking a pretty design of cookies, use a clean mesh dish towel under a glass when pressing cookies flat or use the end of a empty spool of thread for a pretty design.
. . . . .
How can you make this the happiest Christmas of your life? Simply by trying to give yourself to others. Put something of yourself into everything you give. A gift, however small, speaks its own language, and when it tells of the love of the giver, it is truly blessed.

Christmas Tablecloth
Mother brought out
From her trunk
A treasured tablecloth,
Decorated with bright green holly
And crimson poinsettias.
She dried it on the clothesline,
Ironed out the folds and wrinkles,
And placed it lo .....
