Elmer N. Johnson

Elmer N. Johnson, 87, of Rushford, a former construction worker and firefighter, died April 11, 2001 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.

He was born Jan. 30, 1914, in Arendahl Township, Fillmore County, and after his mother's death was raised by his maternal grandmother. He worked for Rushford-Peterson area farmers until moving to Hungry Horse, Mont., in the 1950s and was a construction worker and firefighter in Montana for many years. He returned to the Peterson area a few years ago. In 1958, he married Hilda Thorp in Montana. Mr. Johnson was a member of North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro and the American Legion. His interests included gardening and fishing.

He is survived by cousins. His wife preceded him in death.

The funeral for Elmer N. Johnson was held April 18, 2001 at North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro,with the Rev. Victor Jortack officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hoff Funeral Homes-Cook Rushford Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
