Julia Gunderson, 97, of Spring Valley, died Wednesday, September 27, 2000, in Spring Valley Care Center, where she had resided for the last two years.
Julia Iverson was born Jan. 5, 1903, in Ostrander. She graduated from Grand Meadow High School and married Clifford S. Gunderson Sr., on Sept. 16, 1925, in Grand Meadow. They owned the Hwy Cafe and Malt and Burger/Frontier Room in Spring Valley. They also owned cafes in Wykoff, Austin and in Seattle.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice (Richard) Hughes of Seattle; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Rosella Wollum of Seattle; and a brother, Alford Iverson of North Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1971, two sons and a daughter.
The funeral for Julia J. Gunderson, was held Monday, October 2, 2000, in Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Spring Valley, with the Rev. Kevin Woestehoff officiating. Burial was in Bear Creek Lutheran Cemetery in Frankford Township, Mower County. Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley was in charge of arrangements.
